A HOUSE WITH HISTORY

The house, interiors and gardens

La Portilla has 34 beds (2 of them extra) distributed across 16 bedrooms, 7 of which are suites with en-suite bathrooms, while the rest are shared bathrooms: 7 double rooms, 1 room with 3 beds and 1 single room. In total, there are 11 bathrooms and 2 half-baths. Additionally, it has multiple common spaces such as the Japanese Room, the dining room, and the garden, with centuries-old horse chestnut trees that make this place ideal for summer meals and all kinds of celebrations throughout the year.

An old house located in an exceptional place, with all the history and charm of Comillas

La Portilla was designed by one of the greatest Catalan architects, José Oriol Mestres, who also participated in other projects commissioned by the Marquis of Comillas during those years.

In the summers of 1881 and 1882, Antonio López made Comillas fashionable, hosting the royal family, who stayed at La Portilla and other grand and important houses like Ocejo and El Llano.

Today, La Portilla remains the property of the direct descendants of the Marquis of Lamadrid, Claudio López y López, and they have decided to open the doors of this spectacular house so that it can be enjoyed…
